moving

i am having a nightmare time moving. it mostly has to do with my flatmate's mother.

i've been living with this girl from my class since February. the place is alright, a bit expensive for what you get, but it's close to the hospital. my roommate and i have had our ups and downs, at least in my head. she's not what i would call... clean. some of her habits are quite gross, but i've never really been able to confront her about it. and my conclusion is just that her mother spoiled her, so she never learned certain household skills nor has she realized that she's even lacking. but at the heart of it, she's a good person.

anyhoo, in light of the fact that our lease ends on October 31st, her mom has organized things for our household. unfortunately, she doesn't quite seem to think it necessary to inform me about them until the last minute.

for instance, date of departure. i thought i had until October 31st to move, since i'm paying rent up to that date. but a week ago, my roommate informs me that as per the real estate agent, we need to be out by the morning of the 30th. then on Friday (3 days ago), her mom tells me that she'd like me out by the 27th (Monday!!) so steam cleaning can be done. WHAT?? i have renegotiated, by taking on some extra responsibilities, to leave on the morning of the 29th, so the steam cleaner can come for 10:30am!

and they've taken over the entire house! i cannot access the phone or tv without moving big boxes or suitcases out of the way. i cannot store my boxes outside of my room, b/c there's no room! in fact, the few things i did have out in common areas were quietly placed in my room while i was out of the house.

i know i'm complaining a lot. i'm sorry, i just needed to vent. i'm so glad it's almost over, i really don't think i can handle the mess that is my apartment.
