sometimes i'm just awestruck over how much money i can spend, especially since i don't make any.
it's only just past 11am right now, and today i've:
- applied for a Chinese tourist visa $50
- paid for parking in the city 80 cents
- bought some HK money $450
- got a latte $4.15
- purchased travel insurance $111 (in case i get run over by a car in HK or China)
yeesh! and i still need to purchase malpractice insurance for my UofT elective.
it's funny, if i didn't come to Australia for med school, i wouldn't travel so much. i mean, obviously there's me actually coming to Australia, and the mini-trips within Australia. but i also get to make pretty cool stop-overs when i'm travelling back to/from home. last year was Hawaii, this year is Hong Kong, and i've also lunched in Vancouver twice.
i wouldn't be able to justify any of these trips if i actually had to pay for them, but since Australia and Canada are so ridiculously far apart, the plane always stops somewhere. and for $20 extra, i get to go beyond the confines of the airport, and see a bit of the world. i'm a lucky ducky. a poor one, but still a lucky ducky. :)
