absolutely gobsmacked!

i was watching the news today, and the story was about the proposal of an Islamic school for 400 students in some suburb of Sydney. there were a number of protesters on site, and one just made my jaw drop.

she said, "i don't want Islams in my town. i don't think Islams should be allowed in Australia!"

kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside, doesn't it?

in other, hopefully less offensive news. i've been doing a 2-week stint at the Fetal Medicine Unit. it's where all the high risk pregnancies go for ultrasound scans, procedures (amniocentesis and chorionic villous sampling), and counselling. i don't get to do much - just sit in the dim room and watch scans mostly. but the cases we've come across are incredible. it's been fantastic exposure. seriously, how are there any normal babies out there?
