i'm fresh back from the country. last night was the first in my own bed for ages -- it almost felt uncomfortable. i guess the sagging bed in Goulburn grew on me. :)
am i glad to be back? yes. i really did enjoy the rural rotation... it was just time to move on.
everything seems like a fresh start now. maybe it's because of the warm weather and all the blooming flowers. yesterday it was so hot! i had beads of sweat coming down my neck whilst waiting to fill up my tank.
on the topic of weather. i'm gearing up to have my first ever HOT Australian Christmas. this silly thing called work, only gives you limited time off at Christmas. in my case, i was super lucky to get the whole 4-day weekend off. but since flights home are about 24hrs each way, i figured i'd stay put.
i'm pretty bummed about it. i really love the feel of Christmas, and it's not going to be the same -- especially without my family around. and get this, the traditional Aussie Christmas includes a BBQ!! no mashed potatoes. no Christmas carols by the crackle of the fire. only blaringly hot sunshine, and many people spend the day in the pool!
anyhoo, it'll be an experience. well, i better get back to re-settling back into my apartment. work starts at 7am tomorrow.
