work is kicking my butt!

i have 7am starts, and they are the end of me. i don't mind working more than the typical 9-5 day, but starting at 7am is tough! by the end of the day, i'm so pooped that i head straight home and fall asleep on my carpet. okay, that doesn't happen everynight, but it happens enough.

oh! saturday, i had my first coroner's case, which is a death that happens under certain circumstances that may be seen as questionable. in this case, it wasn't really a fishy situation, it just fell under the criteria. and man, it's such a huge process. essentially, i had to notify the coroner, and then the police had to come in and investigate the case.

the police (2 of them, with guns!) came in and interviewed the patient's family. then they had to interview me. they asked me to go over the course of events, which i did in about 3 minutes. but they didn't write anything down. in retrospect, i think everything i said went straight over their heads! so then for the next 3 hours or so, they sat there pouring over the patient's notes, and asked me to interpret/summarize/translate for them. it would've been fine if that was all i had to do, but i simultaneously had to cover the 50-or-so patients on multiple wards, and the dozen nurses asking me to do stuff.

towards the end my shift, one of my friends came to visit. she came over to my place to visit, and i fell asleep on the couch whilst she was there. man, i am so lame!

i've managed to take this friday off, so i'm heading to the coast for 3 days with some friends. i'm so excited!!
