i've been a little moody lately. i think i'm missing everybody back home, and am getting frustrated that i'm so limited in friends here. i'm pretty fickle, and it's difficult spending ALL of my time with the same people. i'd like some variety, and i think i get some of that back home. and not just of people, but of scenery. i'm pretty much limited to campus while i'm in school. blech.
i was in Sydney on the weekend. met up with my uncle & aunt for dinner. went to this place in Chatswood (their version of Richmond Hill, being all chinese and upscale) called "Fook Yuen". they took me there when i stayed with them last time - seriously good food. we had this very fresh, very thinly-sliced abalone as an appetizer. Yum!
actually, the whole time in Sydney, it was all about the asian food. i had gone down to Melbourne hoping for some, but i stayed with the Kennedys... they don't know too much about chinese food, though i did get some decent sushi for the first time in months. so in Sydney, i had pad thai, baked porkchops in tomato sauce, dim sum, and some home-cooked goodness at the Poon household. Oh! i also managed to sneak in some bbtea. i was in heaven. :D
now the food isn't as good at home. bbtea definitely doesn't compare to TenRen's, and the porkchop thing is way better at my dad's golf club -- but you have to make allowances.
OMG, so funny! i wrote my mom an email to tell her i had passed the semester, and was super excited in it and even put a happy face ":D". my mom wrote back and asked me why i was so happy over a "D" grade, and asked me how i could improve my study skills. LMAO! i wrote back to explain the whole honours/pass/fail system, and she was much happier knowing that i didn't get a D! you would think that a programmer at IBM would know emoticons a little better.
