rural
so i haven't written in a while, and the only one who'll probably read this is me, but that's okay.
i've been busy. last week i finished off my 10-week surgical term. can i say, i loved it. the hours were exhausting, that i felt like a zombie half the time. but the stuff i saw was incredible. part of me is seriously considering it. part of me thinks the other part is a little crazy.
anyway, i've booked my tickets home. i'll be back August 9-19, and will have a short visit with Rudolph on the way back to Australia. i'm so excited!!
in the mean time, i've still got studying to do. on monday i started my rural term. i'll be spending a total of 6 weeks in Narooma, NSW. it's a little coastal town about 4-5 hrs south of Sydney, and it's gorgeous! i'd even venture as far as to say it has some of the most breath-taking views i've ever seen. i might be a little influenced by the fact that i haven't seen the lush green colour in a very long time (all the grass in Canberra is pale and crunchy).
anyway, i'm based at a GP's practice, and i get to help out here and there. i spent some time with the receptionists, and have had to learn their software program a bit. one of the receptionists saw me using it, and said, "well, aren't you a clever sausage!"
i informed her that i don't think i've ever been called a sausage before. :| australians are funny!

you aren't the only one who read this post ... and as for surgery, i think it's a tough career for women, particularly if you want to live a balanced life. if you choose it as a specialty and can juggle everything, that would make you a clever sausage, indeed! good luck!!
